Hi! My name is Emily Petertonjes and I am a junior majoring in Information Graphics and Publication Design with a minor in Marketing in the Ohio Honors Program. I am from Cincinnati, Ohio, and in high school I joined my school’s news magazine. I gained a lot of journalism experience and design skills while being an editor for that magazine. Then, I joined Thread during the first semester of my freshman year and have mainly worked on designing and photography. I got the opportunity in October of 2025 to apply to be one of the design directors of Thread alongside my friend from high school, Sophie Schaller. The position was challenging at first, but Sophie and I have learned so much and it is so great being able to have one of my closest friends as my co-director. Being a part of Thread has been so rewarding in so many ways and I can’t wait to see all the amazing things we do this year!
