FIVE VALENTINE’S DAY DISASTER GIFTS

Valentine’s Day is a day for love. While every couple is different and some people may know exactly what to get for their significant other, here are five things you should try to avoid when finding a gift for the special day.
Valentine’s Day Branded Items
Although those bright red and pink teddy bears may look so cute in the Walmart aisle while you do your weekly grocery run, trust me when I say you should stay away from these cheap items that will end up being stored in a closet and only taken out during the season of love. Although these items are cute, they can often turn out to be a bit tacky and will quickly become out of season.
Cheap Lingerie
Although the sentiment may be sweet and sexy when purchasing this item, the bottom line is that cheap lingerie can often be very uncomfortable and may easily be ruined after a few washes. In general, unless your partner has talked about wanting this item, lingerie may be one to let them get all on their own.
Neon Flowers
Similarly to the above, although the sentiment may be sweet in picking up some flowers at the store, it is important to think about which kind of flowers you are picking up. These brightly dyed flowers may appeal to some but usually a simple bouquet of roses will give a more romantic appeal to the sweet tradition of giving flowers.
Gift Card
Unless the gift card is attributed to a very specific place and has a good reason for it, you should not be getting gift cards for your significant other. Gift cards often give the message that you had no idea what to get them and instead of racking your brain, you decided to take the easy way out. Do not get a gift card.
Nothing
Listen, everyone is busy. Everyone is broke. This is college after all. However, that is simply not an excuse to get your partner nothing for Valentine’s Day. It doesn't matter if they said they didn’t want anything, the bare minimum is a beautiful bouquet of flowers and a nice card. Come on. Do better.
Overall, these gifts are just general ideas of what people may not be fond of for Valentine’s Day. However, everyone is different and you ultimately know your partner the best!
